Overview

Charming, peaceful, car-free Wengen lies on a sunny terrace high above the Lauterbrunnen valley. Being exclusively accessible by train, it is a noise-free and safe holiday location.

The fresh mountain air provides a boundless energy for the pursuit of outdoor activities. Wengen is part of the Jungfrau ski region which includes the resorts of Grindelwald, Murren, Haslital and Lauterbrunnen and which, in winter gives skiers and snowboarders access to 206km of pistes set against the jagged backdrop of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks. The village is also an excellent starting point for various excursions in the Jungfrau Region including the gondola to the summit of the Männlichen, hikes on the Kleine Scheidegg and the scenically splendid mountain railway to the Jungfraujoch, the highest station in Europe (3,454m), as well as the legendary ride from Mürren to the Schilthorn, made famous by James Bond.

Thanks to the Lauberhorn Race, which takes place in each January, Wengen has made a name for itself in the world. The 4.5km-long descent of the Ski World Cup annually attracts tens of thousands of skiing enthusiasts. A venture down this famous descent on skis is a must and an unforgettable experience for every visitor.
